DGAP-Media / 16.10.2017 / 14:20
Skytanking has completed the acquisition of the employees and assets of Sun Jet Services at Germany's Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Cologne airports with effect from October 1, 2017. By taking this step, the company has grown its operations in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) by about 50 percent. Skytanking now has more than 420 employees and a total of 160 specialized refuelling vehicles in the three countries. With an annual refuelling volume of more than six million cbm of jet fuel, Skytanking is now the leading service provider for aircraft refuelling in the German-speaking countries.
"This acquisition of experienced employees and long-established fuelling stations significantly strengthens Skytanking's market presence," says Christoph Lindke, Managing Director of Skytanking DACH. "Our main focus now is the successful integration of the new sites into the existing network. Our customers also benefit from the skills transfer, for example in night-time refuellings of cargo aircraft."
Sun Jet is a group of four non incorporated joint ventures; its owners are Shell Deutschland, Total Deutschland and Tramp Oil Germany, each with a one-third share in the group. The purchase agreement was signed by all four parties on June 23, 2017 in Hamburg. Service contracts were signed with Shell Deutschland, Total Deutschland and Tramp Oil Germany. In addition to into-plane fuelling services in Frankfurt, Düsseldorf and Cologne, Skytanking will also take over the operation of one of the airport storage terminals in Düsseldorf.
Skytanking is a subsidiary of Marquard & Bahls, a Hamburg-based family-owned company that operates in the fields of energy supply, trading and logistics. Skytanking provides a full range of aviation fuelling services including building, owning and operating aviation fuel storage and hydrant facilities, and providing into-plane services to airlines, airports and oil companies. Skytanking handles 15.8 million cbm of aviation fuel per year, refuelling 1.4 million aircraft at 71 airports in 13 countries in Europe, Asia and Africa.
